Stories that moved us
My husband was diagnosed with ALS two years ago. By last November he could no longer use his hands or speak clearly. We were facing the prospect of him being completely silent. Then we found Voxetu. The blink mode — just one blink for yes, two for no — gave him back the ability to answer questions, tell us when he is in pain, and say goodnight. Last week he blinked YES when I asked if he loved me. I cannot describe what that meant.

Arjun has Cerebral Palsy and has never been able to use a standard keyboard. We tried expensive eye trackers that cost more than our car. Then a friend in our CP parent group shared Voxetu. The gaze keyboard scan mode — rows light up automatically, he blinks to choose — is the first keyboard he has ever been able to use independently. Last Tuesday he typed "I want dosa" by himself. I cried for an hour.

I had a major stroke at 54 and lost most of my language. My SLT introduced me to Voxetu. I started Symbol Quest at Level 1, feeling embarrassed that a grown man could not identify simple pictures. Four months later I am at Level 5. The gamification kept me going when I wanted to quit. My wife says I am finding words again that I had lost entirely. The caregiver dashboard means my SLT can see my progress without me having to travel to appointments.
